12 Days Safari to Selous, Mikumi, Udzungwa and Ruaha National Parks
This 12 days and 11 nights Southern Tanzania wildlife Experience safari will include visiting Selous Game Reserve, Mikumi National Park, Udzungwa Mountains National Park and Ruaha National Park.
Day 1: Pick up and Transfers to Selous Game Reserve
You will be picked from airport or hotel in Dar to start your safari (if you arrive early you can be picked from the airport to start your trip). You will be transferred to Selous game reserve, when you arrive you will have lunch and then go for boat safari into the Rufiji river for the evening.
Dinner and overnight stay at Africa Safari Camp.
Day 2 and Day 3: Full day game drives in Selous Game reserve
On this day you will leave early in morning with packed breakfast and picnic lunch to enjoy a full day game drives in this largest game reserve in Africa. Each day you will cover different area of the park to be able to enjoy different vegetation and the animals they support there in.
Dinner and overnight stays at Africa Safari Camp.
Day 4: 12 Days Safari – Game drives in Selous enroute to Mikumi
On this day you will leave for game drives while driving to Mikumi national Park via Kisaki village. Depends on the time you arrive in Mikumi, you may have sunset game drives or will just go on to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Mikumi Park Cottages.
Day 5: Full day game drives in Mikumi National Park
On this day you will have sunrise game drive starting from 06:30 hours and come back to the cottages for breakfast at around 08:30 hours. Will continue with game drive till lunch time whereby you will have lunch within the park. After lunch and a little rest you will continue with game drive in another part of the park till around 16:30 hours and that will be the end of full day game drive. In Mikumi expect to see animals such as Lions, Buffalos, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebras, Impalas, Warthogs, elephants, hippos and more than 300 bird species.
Dinner and overnight stay within the park at the park Cottages
Day 6: Walking Safari and Evening game drives
Early morning of this day you will leave for a walking safari which takes about 3 hours to be able to experience Mikumi wildlife while walking on foot. After walking safari will have lunch break and then continue with game drives around the park. Later on the evening you will be transferred to Mikumi town.
Dinner and overnight stay at Tanswiss Lodge.
Day 7: Transfer and Trekking in Udzungwa Mountains
The purpose of this trip is to show you the Natural habitats of Udzungwa National Park. Early morning of this day you will be picked from your hotel in Mikumi and drive to Udzungwa Mountains. After registering will start climbing taking the Sanje route to be able to see the 4 stage waterfalls. Udzungwa is one of thirty four World Biodiversity hotspots. Expect to see Primates. Udzungwa have 11 primates species whereby 2 of these are found no where in the world, these are Sanje Mangabey (Cercocebus sanjei) and Iringa Red Colobus (Procobus gordonorum). Also you may have the opportunity to see habituated Sanje Mangabeys, different endemic plant species, birds, reptiles and Amphibians, Butterflies, waterfalls, etc.
Dinner and overnight stay at Udzungwa Falls Lodge in Udzungwa.
Day 8: Trekking into Udzungwa – Another route
On this day you have trekking tour in Udzungwa Mountains taking a different route. Also will have village tour before driving to Mikumi town for dinner and overnight stay at Tanswiss Lodge.
Day 9: Transfer to Iringa and visit to Isimila Historical site
On this day after breakfast will be transferred to Iringa town where by you will have Iringa town tour and visit to Isimila stone age site tour. This tour aims at reminding you of where human kind evolved and what tools were used. Later on the day you will be transferred to Ruaha National Park.
Dinner and overnight stay at Ruaha Park Cottages.
Day 10 and Day 11: Full day game drives in Ruaha National Park
Since Ruaha is the biggest park in Tanzania you will have 2 full day game drives to explore its wilderness. On this first full day game drives days you will leave early at 06:30 hours to go for sunrise game drive with parked breakfast and lunch boxes. Will continue with game drive searching for wild animals around different locations of the park till lunch break. After lunch and a little rest within the park you will continue with the game drive till around 18:00 hours when you will go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Other animals and attractions you should expect to see includes but not limited to Buffalos, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebras, Impalas, Warthogs, elephants, hippos, different birds, plants and reptiles species.
Dinner and overnight stay at Ruaha Park Cottages on the 10th day and in Iringa town at Iringa Sunset Hotel on the 11th day.
Day 12: Transfer back to Dar Es Salaam
Early morning of this day after breakfast you will leave for trip back to Dar, will have a stop Morogoro town whereby you will have lunch break and there after continue to Dar. When you get to Dar you will be transferred to your place of residence/hotel and that will be the end of 10 days safari with Watu Safaris.
