3 Days Safari to Mikumi and Udzungwa
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer
It is not possible to travel from Dar Es Salaam to Udzungwa and climb on the same day, so the first day would be dedicated to getting to or closer to Udzungwa National Park, it is possible if you are starting from Morogoro town. On this day you will be picked from place of your choice in Dar or Morogoro town. After greetings and introduction you will start drive to Mikumi town and /or Udzungwa Mountains via Morogoro town. You will spend a night in Mikumi town/Udzungwa ready for climbing the next day. Overnight stay and dinner in Morogoro town or Mikumi town or Udzungwa. This will depend entirely to your own interests and preferred arrangements.
Day 2: Climbing Udzungwa Mountains and Sunset game drives in Mikumi
The purpose of this trip is to show you the Natural habitats of Udzungwa National park. You will be picked up at your accommodation/residence in Morogoro town or Mikumi town as early as possible around 05:30 hours and you will start your trip to Udzungwa. When you arrive in Udzungwa you will be checked in at the park and you will start climbing the mountain taking the 4 hours (Up and down) route, preferably Sanje route. Please note – climbing time will depend on your pace. Udzungwa is one of thirty four World Biodiversity hotspots. Expect to see Primates. Udzungwa have 11 primates species whereby 2 of these are found no where in the world, these are Sanje Mangabey (Cercocebus sanjei) and Iringa Red Colobus (Procobus gordonorum). Also you may have the opportunity to see habituated Sanje Mangabeys, different endemic plant species, birds, reptiles and Amphibians, Butterflies, waterfalls, etc. When you come down you will be taken to Mikumi National Park for lunch and there after will go for evening and sunset game drive before staying overnight within the park.
Day 3: Game Drive in Mikumi National Park and Transfer to Dar
In this day your will be taken for sunrise game drive starting from 06:30 hours till around 08:30 whereby your will have breakfast, there after continue with game drive till the same time you entered the park on Day 2 (end of your 24 hours within the park). After game drive you start trip back to Dar. In Mikumi National Park expect to see animals such as Lions, Buffalos, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebras, Impalas, Warthogs, elephants, hippos, more than 300 bird species and various plant species.
